On August 17, 2021, the launching ceremony of the Laboratory for Innovation in Basic Education in Brazil (LabInova) was held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Education (MEC), in Brasília. The event was attended by the secretary of Basic Education of the MEC, Mauro Luiz Rabelo, and the vice-rector of the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS), Camila Ítavo, as well as representatives of the University of Brasília (UnB), from the Federal University of Mato Grosso (UFMT), the Brazilian Institute of Museums (Ibram) and the Brazilian Network for Certification, Research and Innovation (RBCIP).
The laboratory aims to bring innovation to more than 5,000 municipalities through its state and municipal articulators. “The partnership with the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul is particularly important, as this work has an extreme impact on national education”, said Rabelo.
The Secretary of Basic Education highlighted the importance of the participation of Universities in research and extension activities, in particular, in the development and improvement of public policies, such as those that will be carried out within the scope of the partnership between UFMS and MEC, within the program of connected education innovation, which was recently transformed into connected education innovation policy, law 14.180/21.
The vice-rector of UFMS, Camila Ítavo, stressed that the project of bringing innovation to state and municipal articulators is a challenging work, but that the university's technical team and its support network are capable of delivering extremely relevant work for the entire basic education.
Other authorities present commemorate the integration between the universities and the MEC, such as the director of Articulation and Support for Basic Education Networks at the MEC, Ana Caroline, who spoke about the importance of innovation directly in Basic Education and thanked the participation and engagement of several characters in the construction of the LabInova project.
LabInova and RBCIP
Rbcip is a partner of UFMS in the development of the model for disseminating the culture of innovation. One of the actions in the model is LabInova.
The President of the Network, prof. Marcelo Estrela Fiche, highlights that the RBCIP partnership will be essential for the development of mechanisms related to the model of dissemination of the culture of innovation, which seeks to strengthen the Programa Inovação Educação Conectada (PIEC). It will be one of the instrumental means for drawing up local innovation plans in municipalities in the country's 26 states and in the Federal District.
